We were treated with an oral-visual presentation by Lee E. Rhyant, Vice President and Site General Manager for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company in Marietta. Having the background of being a native of Sasser, Georgia, a graduate of Bethune-Cookman and Indiana University, and work experience at various levels with General Motors and Rolls-Royce, Mr. Rhyant shared a wealth of information about Lockheed Martin which included the following: 1. The company has three locations, Palmdale, Marietta, and Fort Worth (Headquarters). 2. At the Marietta facility, the company has built more then 3,000 airplanes such as C-130J, F-22, F-16, C-5, C-275, C27J, X-33, and P-3/S-3. 3. The company is the fourth largest manufacturer in Georgia, employing more than 7,240 workers with an annual payroll of $510 million plus, and purchasing at last $811 million of goods and services. 4. In addition to having partnerships with groups such as The Academy for Teachers of Math and Science, Georgia Aviation Camp, Georgia Tech, Morris Brown College, and the Governor's Mentor-Protégé program, Lockheed gives to numerous organizations such as United Way, MUST Homeless Shelter, Boys and Girls Club, Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council, and Children Health Care of Atlanta at Scottish Rite. In his concluding remarks, Lee E. Rhyant noted that Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company will celebrate its 50th Anniversary in April 2001 and he looks forward to the company being a continuous and significant part of the Georgia community.

President Yvonne recognized Steve for the coveted award he received during the 81st Annual Convention of the Georgia District of Kiwanis International. Gratitudes were expressed again to Kathy for hosting the Club's Picnic at her Shan-gri-La.

The newest member of the Kiwanian family is the 120 aKtion Clubs which are composed of a adult citizens who are living with a disability. This group was adopted by the House of Delegates during the 85th Annual Kiwanis International Convention.
Here are a few facts about Alvin B. Levine, the newest member of Peachtree Atlanta Kiwanis Club. He received a BA in Economics from Iona College and an MBA in Finance and Accounting from Columbia University. As a graduate of OCS at Fort Benning, Al attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant before being honorably discharged. His professional training and experience as an accountant and real estate expert have been used in working with Coopers and Lybrand, International Paper Company, and Maitland Management Company. He serves presently as a board member of Fulton County Boar of Tax Assessors and a realtor with Gramm & Associates, Inc.
Guest speaker for August 30th will be a top executive from IBM, John Rowland, Principal with IBM Global Services.
