March 23, 2004 Program
Our speaker today was Brian Leary, Vice President of Design and Development
at Atlanta Station which is a joint-venture partnership for redeveloping
the historic Atlantic Steel property in Midtown Atlanta. Accompanying Mr.
Leary was co-worker Adam Baker. In sharing with us about the design and
development of Atlantic Station, Mr. Leary's message included the following
points:
-
Atlantic Station consists of 138 acres of land on which will be constructed
300 condominiums, two million square feet of retail space and six million
square feet of office space.
-
The cost of the construction will be about two billion dollars of which about
$150 million to be spent on infrastructure.
-
The projected time for completion of the project is five years for the
residential area, three years for the retail are, and twelve years for the
office area.
-
Atlantic Station will provide 30,000 jobs and 10,000 residents.
-
A main thoroughfare to Atlantic Station will be 17th Street which will extend
from Midtown to Northside Drive.
