February 8, 2005 Program
Our guest speaker today was Steven W. Mataro, President & CEO of America's
Siding Company, Inc. and America's Supply Company, Inc. and Founder of Servant
Builders. In sharing with us about the program of Servant Builders, Mr. Mataro
noted the following points:
-
Servant Builders is located on a 70 acre farm in Toccoa, Georgia and was
founded 17 years ago to help young men rebuild their lives.
-
The young men, high school age and older, are in trouble with the law, in
school, or at home and are sent to Servant Builders by parents, schools and
judges.
-
The young men are provided housing, meals, and other necessities while a
comprehensive 24-month program is being completed.
-
The young men learn a new way of life away from the world of drugs and crime.
They are taught a trade and other life skills that will enable them to be
self-sufficient by the end of the program.
-
Tax-deductible contributions are solicited for Servant Builders as it seeks
to expand its facilities at the Toccoa farm.

at this celebration.

Kiwanis Education
Even though club membership can change something adopted by the Board of
Directors, such interference is discouraged.
President Ray's Quote
"As the traveler who has once been from home is wiser than he who never left
his own doorstep, so a knowledge of one other culture should sharpen our
ability to scrutinize more steadily, to appreciate more lovingly, our own."
