July 12, 2005 Program

Our speaker today was Alexander Lostocco, Founder and President of Internships for America. Accompanying the speaker was his colleague, Daniel Goetsch, Director of Sales. In sharing with us pertinent information about Internships for America, Mr. Lostocco noted the following points:

  1. The eight-year-old Internships for America program brings top graduate and university students through various sponsoring agencies to complete specific internship programs at U.S. companies.
  2. Top hotel and resort companies, law firms, management and IT firms are a few of the places where interns are assigned.
  3. To qualify for the program, an intern must be fluent in English, hold at least an undergraduate degree, and pay a fee in the amount of about $4,000.00
  4. The firm provides housing for the interns who come to America on a J1 Visa for a periof of 12 to 18 months.
  5. Even though based in Atlanta, the firm is expected to expand to places like Birmingham, Macon, New Orleans, and Richmond.
  6. More information about Interships for America may be found in the recently published book entitled, "U.S. Internship for International Students & Young Professionals."
