September 27, 2005 Program

Our guest speaker today was Ms. Donna Carson, Directory of MY HOUSE. Among other things about MY HOUSE that were shared by Ms. Carson, our attention is called to the following:

  1. MY HOUSE was established in 1999 to provide a long-term transitional home for babies with special needs whose parents have lost custody.
  2. MY HOUSE assures that the medical and developmental needs of these "boarder" children are met while providing the love and stability they need to flourish until permanent plans have been made for each child. Eighty percent of the children are adopted.
  3. MY HOUSE is licensed currently to care for twelve children between the ages of newborn and four years who are referred by the Department of Family and Children Services and Juvenile Court.
  4. MY HOUSE is affiliated with the Department of Pediatrics, Emory University Medical School.
  5. MY HOUSE is a tax-exempt organization which operates from donations and volunteers.
