December 6, 2005 Program
Our speaker today was Mark Shaver, Vice President #277959 of LightYear Alliance,
who shared with us several points about his company, including the following:.
-
Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) was founded in 1993; has been in Atlanta
for 10 Years; and has headquarters in Washington, D.C.
-
VOIP will cause the largest shift in consumer in the history of American
business.
-
Just as growth in cell phone use is replacing the landline phone,VOIP is
providing increasing competition with the cell phone. The number of customers
served by VOIP is currently 2.7 million which is projected to expand to 18
million during the next two years.
-
In addition to offering free of cost most of the major features such as Caller
ID, Call Waiting, and Three-Way Calling, there is unlimited Local/Long Distance
Calling for as low as $24.99 for line one and $19.99 for line 2, representing
a saving of 64-68 percent compared with other phone companies.
-
More about VOIP may be found on
