This morning’s guest speakers were the Club’s very own Dusty Miller and Ray Nixon, political lecturers and pundits who ‘ask questions to make you think’.

This morning’s topic concerned the upcoming national elections and what they mean to the general public and you as an individual.

They outlined the ideas that the key issues in this year’s national election  were:

  

Interclub meetings

Interclubs, says Kevin, are scheduled August 18th with the Buckhead Club and August 26th with the Downtown Club.

  

Genesis Shelter Work Day

A workday has been scheduled for August 23rd, 9AM-1PM at the shelter on Boulevard.  Deep cleaning and painting are the orders of the day.  Contact either Sherry or Ronni if you are available.

  

A.M.I.S Project

Volunteer hosts are needed for the project to host foreign students for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

  

Georgia District Convention

Club President Sherry Neal said she and four other Club members plan to attend this year’s convention in Peachtree City.  Those attending are: George Scheer, John Nix, Ronni French, and Jim Pilcher.

 

The Annual Kercheval Lake House Party

This year’s lake house party will take place on September 6th . . Tim said you get to ‘walk the plank’ this year to the lake.

  

Genesis Shelter Project

Holiday decorating and adopting families for the holidays are high on the list of things yet to be done at the shelter.  18 families are currently in the shelter.  More information to follow.

Volunteers are needed to watch the children while the parents attend a required parenting class at the shelter.  How are your babysitting skills?

Ben Forehand Inducted

Charter Club member Jim Pilcher inducted new Club member Ben Forehand into the Club this morning.  Welcome aboard, Ben!

 

Club Badge Box Repaired and Relabeled

Many Thanks to Jerry Hitt for taking the initiative to ‘fix up’ the Club’s badge box.  The lettering is superb.
